Solo Designer and Developer

Project Brief:

Teach Formabble in-editor transform tools faster, with higher retention and lower frustration.

UX Problem:

New users struggle with:

• understanding what to do next in the editor
• building muscle memory for transform tools
• feeling lost without feedback

UX Solution:

Design decision: Convert tutorials into a game loop because passive instruction doesn’t build muscle memory.

UX hypothesis: If users perform the action in context (move/rotate/scale) under light constraints (routing puzzle, time pressure), they retain the tool faster and feel motivated to repeat.

Why Diagetic UI?

Keeping instructions and feedback inside the world reduces context switching and makes learning feel natural.
